St. Joe River Fishing Report | 4 April 2019
Nate and Kyle are up hitting the Joe this week. Today they floated from Avery to Marble creek. They are reporting that water is high and off color with water temps hitting 41-42 F at the peak of the day. We are seeing 3-4 ft of visability above Marble Creek. Below Marble Creek there is 15 inches-3ft of visability. The river was running around 8500 cfs today and on the drop at Calder.
They are finding fish on dark streamers, and small flashy colors nymphs. Cutties are hanging in the deep water along the edges of big hydraulics and drop offs where the water is soft and slow but deep. Heavy sink tips and heavy steamers and nymphing at 6-10 ft depth with some weight.
Kyle and Nate are also seeing bwos but nothing prolific. At these flows wade fishing is out of the question but spending the day in the drifter will pay off. The boat ramp at The cutthroat Resort formally the Big Eddy is not open yet but was told it will be later this week. 16 mile bridge boat ramp is sporty and snow cover.
