19 June 2026 - St Joe River Fishing Report

Location: Lower St Joe, Avery down

Water Condition: 1590 cfs

Fishing Techniques: Hopper Dropper, Streamers, Dry Fly

Hatches: Golden Stones, Yellow Sallies, Drakes, Caddis, PMDs, some Terrestrials

Report:

The St. Joe River is pretty much in prime fishing conditions. With flows lower than normal make sure you get out now, we might be looking at August conditions in July this year! These flows are great for either wade fishing or floating.

Hatches will vary depending on weather, temperature, and location, but you should see PMDs, caddis, yellow sallies, drakes, and golden stones. Different sections of the river will have different bug activity, so be prepared to mix it up.

On the lower stretches of the river, we're also starting to see some terrestrials show up. Ants and beetles can be good options, especially during the warmer parts of the day and for picky fish. Picky fish may also be looking for more of a cripple or emerger pattern rather than a dry on the surface - so don't be afraid to drown your fly.

Streamer fishing has also been super productive on guided trips recently.

Stop by the shop and check out our "hot fly" tags to get stocked up for the Joe!
